I wonder why all bathtubs must have feet, I mean, there must have been an incident that forced this law,,I wish I knew stuff,,ohh see my 190a silver glad Suspect that the Law had nothing to do with it. Water would not be able to dry under the tub if it were not elevated and the floor would rot out. There was no way to keep all the water in the tub (unless you just didn't bother to wash the children ) as shower curtains were made of cloth and the early plumbing was not often water tight. There, how's that for useless knowledge

I know why us Brits drive on the left,,,its because in olden days (hate that saying) when people walked on paths and roads, they stuck to the left, because most people are right handed and the right hand was you weapons hand. Its the same reason why spiral staircases go up clockwise,,so if you were being forced up, you could get a clear swing in with your sword....Clever old Frizzer

if you notice someone drowning in a lake, and decide to go in and rescue him, (therefore telling other potential rescuers to back off ) and for some reason you decide to stop half way through the mission and swim back to shore, and that person dies you could be charged with murder. (depending on the condition of the victim at the time that you decide to forego your attempts ) what do you think? to rescue or not to rescue. that is the question...
ahh, the joys of college. I started back up this semester, so I will probably have a lot more useless knowledge to post here in the weeks to come.

yah... if the rescue attempt goes wrong, you are protected, but if you assume the responsibility of the rescue, and don't actually rescue, and consequently limit anothers ability to rescue, then you are liable for that persons death ( depending on the person's condition at the point that you give up the rescue attempts. obviously, if you can prove that he was already dead, then there's nothing they can do ) the good 'ol US of A.

Hey, JTGirl, I was reading a book the other day (big surprise) about a lawyer trying to defend a client from a potential death-penalty charge, and while he knew the client was innocent he also knew it would be near-impossible for him to disprove the charges against him (the client him not the lawyer him) so he (the lawyer) manipulated the government into indefinitely suspending the trial in the middle of it (threatened to disclose state secrets as a defense for his client) which made the judge declare a mistrial, and so the client walked free. So what I want to know is, is that even possible or was it artistic license?
Oh, for those who want to know the book it's called "Double Tap".

some good useless one from my home state (Kentucky) State law stipulates that a person is considered sober until he or she "cannot hold onto the ground." It is illegal to remarry the same man four times. In Kentucky it is illegal to carry a CONCEALED weapon more than 6 feet long. A useful website for those who like useless laws: www.totallyuselessknowledge.com/laws.php

Here are two laws that i KNOW to be in effect, as I have been fined for both of them.:::
1: No cursing on the boardwalk. This law is enforced especially hard if you do not see the police officer behind you and you point up at the sign and say that it is **profanity**
2: No swimming in the ocean after dark. Thos falls under the whole : dont protect me if i dont want to be protected thing. I got a 110 dollar fine for swimming in the ocean at 2 AM with a bunch of my friends on my 18th birthday. It was sad. HOWEVER, I was 18, so didnt get in trouble for being out past CURFEW!!! **In norfolk is the law that if you are under 18 you have to be home by 12. BOOO!

Indeed,,,this is a PG site...ok, useless knowledge, 1 in ten of us is left handed, but in individual sports, tennis etc the percentage in the top 100 is much higher. Its believed its because your brain gets used to playing right handed people

"sniffs" ok one more breast bit then before its moved. If you play the lottery (we only have a national one with 6 numbers) and you keep the same 6 numbers, and every possible combination comes out without repeating, you will definately win in a mere 25 thousand years

The age at which humans konk out has always been around 122. A couple people have gotten past that though.
