I will be GMing an RPG with a slightly different format. (Vyriello approved)
It will be like an on-line, old (more like ancient) style D&D session with rounds but no dice or stats.
Here's the plan: 1. We'll pick a day & time range (website times). Might be as long as 18 hours -- so everyone in different time zones will get a chance!
2. I do setting, NPCs, results of actions & keep it hopping
3. a round will be when everyone has posted (1 post/person/round -- there'll be another thread for metagaming)
4. I will post again as soon as all players have posted to start the new round (but at least every 15 min - the idea is to go fast!)
5. A char can leave & reenter later and if someone misses 2 posts, I will write them out (to keep the game moving)
If you are interested --- tell me the times (website times) that you can be on. I am hoping to set this up within the week.

oh.... and:
The world is in the copper age. If you can make a reasonable argument for a particular piece of weaponry or armor and why your character would have it -- it is yours.
The magic is based on a combination of Celtic Shamanism, Wiccan, American Indian (and anything else I know anything about). If you can describe what your character does & why it should work -- you have a better chance at succeeding (beware unexpected results!)
All prepatory research about the time periods & types of magic can be used. (But none is necessary -- experimentation works too)

Are you using the Native American nasties, too? I'm not so sure I want to deal with some of them.... this could get tricky.

not telling what/who nasties are..... (But they won't be out of your Wizards of the Coast Monster guides or any other D&D book -- at least not intentionally).
I am not a hack & slash DM so you won't be leaping from one fight to the next.
There will be far more exploration, puzzles to solve & dilemmas than what most of you might be used to. Which isn't to say there won't be trouble --- it's just that most of it is avoidable somehow... if you can think fast enough... (I delight in danger with backdoors!)
However.... I am a big believer in realistic consequences so it is quite possible for a character to be killed or otherwise put out of comission. (in which case you are welcome to create a new character)

I usually come to this site between 3pm to midnight(or a little later), PST. Sounds like fun. Count me in. Question: What is metagaming?

metagaming --- it's the player stuff & people posting on forums & questions like this... (as opposed to the character & story stuff which is in the game) (In D&D it's when a player uses information that the character couldn't have known. For example: a player hears another player talk about something in their character's pack & then in game tells the other character to use it, but we all try not to do that role-playing rocks! ) So we'll use it for anything your character wouldn't know (& to ask questions & talk to other players).

It's probably just as well only a few people have responded ----- I am hitting the road earlier than expected (finally underway with my grand 'See North America' adventure ). So I'm going to have to postpone this RPG until Dec. Sorry, folks...... Cynder

This is still going, Raynin, and you can still join it. She started out with four or so people but now it's down to just Frizzer, so you'd be welcome. It's the "One Dark Night" stuff. Post a character in the OOC thread, and she'll work you in.

I would highly suggest it because Cynder is a very exceptional DM.

well... it's true this RPG morphed into '"One Dark Night...." but I still want to do this fast-paced one sometime if we can get enough folks together (& me!) and on-line at the same time. ... would have to be another setting, but... I've got lots of worlds
