because the standard for place settings is twelve, thus it was unlucky for the HOST to have a party with 13 total since it looked really bad to have the mismatched setting. jtg

OH, but the STRESS of coming up with a riddle I love puzzles & riddles etc. but can never remember them. THINKING THINKING THINKING ouch ouch ouchA snail is at the bottom of a well that is 20 ft deep. Every day the snail climbs 5 feet upwards, but at night it slides 4 ft back down. How many days must pass until the snail reaches the top of the well?

either 16 days or 17 days depending on whether you say the snail has to go more than 20 ft to climb out (17days ) because 20ft (16days) only reaches the top & doesn't go over the edge
