I believe Garth Brooks covered "Fishing In The Dark", but I'm not entirely sure on that. Not a big Garth Fan.

Since Wahoo brought up that bright, cheery tune by Gilbert O'Sullivan, I thought I'd continue on that theme a little bit with a couple more Classic Happy songs.

2. 'Last Kiss' - had to Google the artist, but Ricky Nelson did the most famous cover of it. (Lucky his career survived!)

3. Every Michigan Disk Jockey's favorite smoke break song - 'Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald' - Gordon Lightfoot. (This was requested so often in the late 70's and early 80's around here that a local DJ snapped and played it 4 or 5 times in a row. He was fired.)

4a. Torra remembers the song, but not the artist or title. I drew a blank.

4b. Thankfully, I have no clue and will not Google it.

I got to learn some new things too, and I always like that.

1. Indeed is "Seasons In The Sun" by Terry Jacks. Personally, I don't find it actually awful, but just excessively syrupy.

2. Is "Last Kiss", but the version I'm most familiar with is by J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers. I never even knew Ricky Nelson covered it. Slightly amusingly, when Pearl Jam covered it in the '90s, I was working at McBurgerland with the typical staff of teenagers. When the song came on the radio, I couldn't stop myself and started singing along with it. They were amazed that I could learn a 'brand new' song so quickly!...lol

3. Is the "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot. A great song to play when the party's been over for a while but nobody will leave. Guaranteed to clear the house!

4. Is quite a bit more obscure than the previous, but was still played a little too frequently for my taste.

4(again). And the 'Math Guy' demonstrates his masterful counting ability. This little gem of a song could get a negative reaction from a comatose person. And surprisingly, it may not be his most noxious song. Check out "Last Game Of The Season" sometime. But only if you haven't eaten yet. The nausea could get you.

5. "Carry On Wayward Son" but it's by Kansas, not Styx. But in many ways, they're fairly interchangeable.

6. "Shambala" And the version that I'm familiar with is by Three Dog Night.

7. To the best of my knowledge, this was never released as a single. It's certainly not one of their best known songs. For a while, It was sort of my Personal Theme Song. I've since switched to "Tiptoe Through The Tulips" by Tiny Tim. (Yes, I have really good anti-depressants. No, I'm not sharing!..lol)

8. "Cold Ethyl" by Alice Cooper. I don't really 'like' the song, but I like to have fun with the song. It's always a fun one to put on the playlist after people have made you listen to Terry Jacks.

9. "Key Largo" by Bertie Higgins. This is a fun one too! Find a music store in a mall. Look for one where all the clerks have their jeans half off their tushies. Then go in and ask for this song. Tell them it was a big hit, really! You'll get some amazing stares.

10. "Leader of the Band" by Dan Fogelberg. I take some good natured flack from my friends for liking Dan Fogelberg. They claim it's 'weenie' music. I'm proud to be a weenie!

11. "Lyin' Eyes" by the Eagles. The Eagles have so many songs that I really like, it was hard for me to pick one to put on the list. I'm a little surprised more of their songs haven't been covered. I think they could be hits again.


12. "Don't Pull Your Love" by Hamilton, Joe Frank, and Reynolds. When I first heard this, I couldn't figure out who it was. It was probably nearly a year long process for me to find out. Google makes things much easier these days!

That really is amazing. "Brandy" has to be one of the best songs of the decade. "Alone Again" well, isn't. "Brandy" is a good 'trivia' song. EVERYBODY knows it, but very few know ho did it.
