Here are some updates to Cynder's excellent post:

Middlemen are definitely recommended for new traders. The traders listed are no longer very active. There was an official list of trusted traders at the Trading Post, but it seems to have been removed. I was on that list (Wahoo) and am certainly willing to be a middleman. Please send me a PM.

Glossary update to add crystal weapon acronyms:

cs = crystal staff (two sizes, small and large)
csb = crystal swift boots
cwt = crystal war tusks
crh = crystal rams horn
cp = crystal pike
cgb = crystal great bow
cg = crystal gauntlet
cn = crystal nunchaku
cjf = crystal jaguar fang

Also of note:
Silver Jaguar Fangs are no longer dropped by creatures, replaced by CJF's.
SAC's, SSS's, and Spikeys have "old" and "new" versions. The "old" versions are no longer dropped and are noted with the word "old", as in "old SAC".
