perhaps this was answered somewhere else but i didn't happen to notice.. how do you get into the royal court in the first place to start gaining rank? i can't remember from the last time i played.. do you wait until the black screen starts mentioning something about the queen, or is there a way to get past the guard? - brigid

you can buy a castle permit in the store in the town. That will get you past the first guard into the castle. After that you have several options. 1) you can kill the royal guard (he's a bit tougher than the castle guard, though).... 2) you can do the Queen's Folly quest (a Dragon Guard mission found in the castle) and earn a pendant to get past the royal guard. (you only need to do this once - it will keep working). You will need a unicorn horn from questing in the forest and 1 Ruby, 2 Emeralds and 4 Garnets (you can get those from lots of different critters)..... 3) You can join a clan, ask for help & they will probably send you a pendant that lets you past the royal guard. Or they might send you blast powders to blow up the guard. ... the message about the queen.... I think you are remembering gaining rank in the royal castle. Once you are in the royal castle you can do several things to curry favor & after you have enough favor, there is a message that pops up suggesting talking to the queen. If you have enough favor when you talk to her, you will go up in rank. Rank doesn't really do anything.... well... at least not for questing. What rank does is give points to whatever clan you are in. If a clan gets enough points, then they can get more clan abilities. The abilities are pretty cool & everyone in the clan gets the abilities just by keeping their character current (logging in every 10 days or so). It also gives the clan bragging rights & moves the clan up in rank (the total of all the ranks of all the current characters = clan power). .... how's that for TMI?

hey it works for me, i like having as much info as i can possibly get. thank you!!! yeah, it'd be nice to be able to help the clan, especially as i'm running two characters right now (started then out with some differences just to see how they turn out compared to each other.. it entertains me.. but i guess i'm easily entertained).

Wait, there IS a little something else you get with rank: Money. Once you have a title, there are some mysterious lands that you get with it, no one knows where they are situated but they send you rent moneys every time you log in, going up in amounts dependent on how much land (how high a title) you have. However, I think the max you can get is something like 1,500 which is nothing to what you can get questing and selling stuff, so...
And once you have A rank, doesn't matter which, you needn't worry about the guards.
And you do need a new pendant every time you enter the Queen's Court, I think.

Oh, and Brigidk, I wasn't sure what you're using but I sent you some random stuff. If you don't want or can't use it feel free to either give it away further, trade with it on the TP, or just sell it in-game.

thank you!! i really appreciate it. that's some really good stuff considering my characters are all of level 16 right now. i'll split it between my eponymous character and my other character (whitemartyr).. again, thank you!! and by the way, i just did the queen's folly quest for both characters, so now i've got a bit of rank.. still going to quest mostly but i'll try to gain rank when i can, add what little it does to the clan's overall power and whatnot.
