just wondering, but do we have a clan recruiter?
i just checked out the Clan Forum, and they are really starting to recruit hard, we need a new big giveaway or something to get our name in the positive lime light, DC is growing, and i see many new faces that could be helping our clan grow...
anybody have any ideas?

um... guess I'll try to tackle this answer. There have been various ambassadors & various recruiting techniques. Don't know current policy, or who current ambassadors are....
but we might want to resurrect some of the old ways. Certainly worked to get Gryffindor into the top 8 in a few short months after starting it. When Gryffindor was young & struggling... we:
1. Had official traders who made sure there was at least one Gryffindor trade on the TP at all times & all the rest of us would go on & we do 'Bump for Gryffindor' & such. The idea was to show clan support & show folks that if they were a Gryffindor member all of us would help them keep their trades nice & high on the TP
2. Ambassadors would visit other clans' websites & be friendly & post on their forums & just generally be helpful & show by example that we were nice folks. (absolutely no recruiting, though, too tacky!... just having a presence)
3. Other Ambassadors would visit the DC halls & forums & answer questions for folks & generally try to be helpful... always signing their post with Gryffindor member (back then we didn't have a website, now they could put the website link in).
Idea was to be a class act at all times.
I think JTG works real hard to do all of this himself. How about if the rest of us start doing the Gryffindor TP bump? & answering questions? Every member is really an ambassador!

I post ads in the Clan Hall sometimes and respond to inquiries about clans there. Once in awhile, I use my judgement and don't respond to an inquiry because it is someone who has been going from clan to clan and causing trouble. You kind of get a feel for it when you read the posts there on a regular basis. Want I should post ads everyday?

I think that would be great, muffin(maybe not every day, but make sure there is one on the top half of the listings). That "bump for a Gryffindorian" is actually a really big draw, so if anyone has time to stop by and bump everyone you know they should.

in the trading post... messages slip down unless posted to. A 'bump' is a post for no reason, but to keep it near the top of the heap.

I will address Cynders post and make a few other comments
Recruiting: we need to keep a Gryffindor Add posted near the top in the Clan hall and when you do that, look around for peeps looking for a clan to join, invite them to our website a tout our benefits: Armory Enchanter Medic Banker loads of fun!
Here is a recruiting tool we can all use: athe the end of questing, look at any names near yours that have no clan affiliation, write them down and the next day mail them a dc note witht the clan website addy and an invite to check us out an join if they like, maybe include a gift of some sort and make sure they know it is a gift not a bribe to join. I have used this tactic and it does work . . . a player gets a letter a and a pack out of the blue and a nice gift, it really help the Gryffindor image, . . hey we are the PutPockets!!
Cynder says 1. Had official traders who made sure there was at least one Gryffindor trade on the TP at all times & all the rest of us would go on & we do 'Bump for Gryffindor' & such. The idea was to show clan support & show folks that if they were a Gryffindor member all of us would help them keep their trades nice & high on the TP
jtg: we have alot of active traders on the TP now so have kinda dropped the Official Gryff trader
Cynder says: 2. Ambassadors would visit other clans' websites & be friendly & post on their forums & just generally be helpful & show by example that we were nice folks. (absolutely no recruiting, though, too tacky!... just having a presence)
jtg: our last Ambassador was a bit, shall we say, excitable. WE could use an ambassador that goes out and visits other sites and keeps our name in other forums. I am too busy to do that, sorry. If we have a volunteer for this that would be great.
Cynder says: 3. Other Ambassadors would visit the DC halls & forums & answer questions for folks & generally try to be helpful... always signing their post with Gryffindor member (back then we didn't have a website, now they could put the website link in).
jtg: I check in the Tavern and see that we have folks that post there to help the newbies. When we post there perhaps we could add a tag, our website addy and an offer to provide help to answer the ?'s a struggling newbie has, but IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE DONT RECRUIT THERE.
Cynder says: Idea was to be a class act at all times. jtg: This is our ethics. WE dont cheat, lie, or get petty with other DC players. We are king, helpful and honest. That is what Gryffindor is all about. When folks think of Gryffindor, we want them to think that wea re one of the most kind and helpful Clans in DC.
Cynder says; I think JTG works real hard to do all of this himself. How about if the rest of us start doing the Gryffindor TP bump? & answering questions? Every member is really an ambassador!
jtg: before you bump a sale, please read the thread and check out the status if it is done or not, thanks to Herm for all the bumps she has given me!

Hmm I really liked the setting KotD had...of course we want ours to be different but it allowed more people to have a place in the clan..like an official name like Armourer or something..I could post it if you like..and also potter, I think we've gone a bit overboard on the mods.

By the way did you ever get an ambassador after i left? and excitable? what does that mean and it was me you ment right? Lol i am allways called thing i duno what is. And yeah every clan needs to have some people visit other clans. It is a nice way to make people come back and visit your own clan cos normaly if somone from some other clan stays and chats in your clan some members from your clan will drop by there.

Nope, we never got another ambassador after you, Doom. And excitable means your emotions get involved easily. Mostly it's, "not calm", sort of. Hm, I may not be the best dictionary. [glow=red,2,300]I think that in this case, JTG was referring more to letting insults offend you than emotions in general. Knowing that you weren't one for letting someone walk all over you, we really should have given you a job of "Defender of Gryffindor" so that we could unleash your righteous smiting on those that besmirch our honor. *sigh* We all make mistakes. ~Potter[/glow] Potter, if you were going to post just after me anyway, why bother hacking my post? It's MOST disconcerting! [glow=red,2,300]Actually, there used to be one btwn our posts, it was just deleted. Helps keep a division of topics anyway. Or maybe I just enjoy disconcerting you.... ~Potter[/glow] Guess which one I'm going to believe?

I kind of agree, Dathron, but unfortunately it's the only way to allow people to run their own board. You'll note that a lot of the Moderators are only able to use moderator power on individual sub-boards. Besides, what am I supposed to do with all these reliable, helpful people? (that's rhetorical, btw, ;D)

It sounds like you are going to give it a go on your own, Dath. If you do come back, though, we'll talk about it again then. You haven't been "in the crowd" for a long time anyway, mister over one thousand posts and 4 green stars.
