hehehe uh.... nope.... that was Keven Kline in "Pirates of Penzance", Hermione. rather known for his comedy roles as opposed to Keven Costner who is known for dramatic roles in movies he produces, directs & stars in (or some combination thereof). um... useless knowledge... Gracie Allen, one of the greatest commediennes of all time, hated to act and had terrible stage fright & on the sets of her TV show, no one was allowed on set during the show except the actors in the scene and the minimum number of camera operators.

She also had migraines and two different-coloured eyes, which last is kind of cool.
One of the easiest ways to test whether you have a piece of copal or amber (the difference is, amber is old enough to have fossilized, and is much more expensive) is to rub some ether on it. Amber will be unaffected. Copal or plastic will be eaten into.

Instant Coffee tastes better than the real thing because of flavorings, which tend to be unnatural.Yet it is healthier than the natural coffee, because the acid in coffee can build up in yer system until ya get stones! Lol, use a q-tip, silly! Hang on, wait a second. Nowhere have I heard before that instant coffee tastes better than the real thing... where'd that notion come from? Ah, well, I'm not a coffee drinker anyway. Say, did you know that untreated zircon cyrstals are actually a lovely light brown instead of a characterless clear? I don't know why people do that to a perfectly nice semi-precious gem. Sigh.

Useless fact: Zircon's name comes from the Arabic zargoon, meaning vermilion.

Aramaic is actually still spoken in at least one village in Syria.

People who laugh a lot are much healthier than those who don't. Dr. Lee Berk at the Loma Linda School of Public Health in California found that laughing lowers levels of stress hormones, and strengthens the immune system. Six-year-olds have it best - they laugh an average of 300 times a day. Adults only laugh 15 to 100 times a day.

Erg, are you SERIOUS? I called in and it took around two hours to fix everything. I must be worse than I thought. Um, anyway!
Easiest way to tell if you found a geode or just a round rock is to heft it and see how light it is. Geodes are lighter because of the hollow bit in them. Of course, thundereggs are another matter altogether!

Thundereggs?

A type of solid geode, filled with agate instead of crystals. Found in the Pacific Northwest, named Thundereggs by one or another of the native people of the area (to do with the thunderbird legends). You have to cut and polish those, usually, because they're not as impressive just cracked open. My favourites have a blue tint to them.

One 'poison arrow' frog contains enough poison to coat about fifty arrows. (each one holds about two hundred micrograms, and two micrograms are enough to kill a human, but efficiency wasn't one of the main goals, I guess, to hunters using them.)

Sounds like a quick death was the main goal. If you only use just enough, then they still die, but have a chance to wreak revenge upon you. More poison = faster death/shock to heart, that sort of thing......
I gotta stop biting my nails...

Yeah... the real question was, with everybody using so many, how come they didn't kill each other off? I mean, that particular poison is a type that is toxic even after being cooked, so it's not something one could easily use when hunting game animals, and if it's reserved for use on one's enemies, what does that say about a culture that needed it so often they each carried up to six hundred darts of the stuff?
Although I may be mixing the poison arrow frogs up with curare.

Dont be mixin' up the curare wit' the poison! Ya can wipe out a whole villa' dontcha know.
If ya pick up a box from yer basement floor, ya will find a damp spot. The box will draw a residual layer of water thru the concrete.
