Let's see, I still owe one from Luthien's riddle, don't I?
Hm, okay, let me give an easy one so some one else gets it quickly: What has hands without fingers, a face without eyes, counts without speaking, and runs folks' lives?

After teaching his class all about roman numerals (X = 10, IX=9 and so on) the teacher asked his class to draw a single continuous line and turn IX into 6. The only stipulation the teacher made was that the pen could not be lifted from the paper until the line was complete.

Query: when the teacher drew "IX" were there the bordering lines across the top and bottom?

put a horizontal line through the middle of the IX and then turn it upside down.

What do you mean Hermoine? No Luthien.

Roman numerals are often contained within two bordering lines, across the very tops of the lines/letters/numerals, and across the bottoms, connecting all the symbols in one number. It's the way they distinguished the beginings and endings of numbers when there were long lists of them. So did the teacher leave those lines off, or were they present?
Because if they WEREN'T there, then the kids could just draw an "S" in front of the IX. It's trickier if they were there, though.

You got it Hermione. It didn't say anything in the riddle about the bordering lines but that is supposed to be the answer: stick an S in fron of the IX to make SIX.

Ok Hermi, you are of the hook . . . . a brain teaser . . . . .
If OLLIE amounts to 31,770 and ELSIE is worth just 197 less, what value should you place on LESLIE?

Well, I did that awhile back, but we haven't had a riddle in FAR too long. So here's a quick one to get us going again: What repeats itself while only ever going forward? (There are two answers I'd accept)

You know, I was looking for time or history, but both of those work, so I say you got it (and it's my riddle so I CAN so declare! ). Your turn to come up with a riddle!
